Every year in this season, cities all around the world are decorated with illumination. Also in Japan, illumination is nowadays the standard event of winter. This time, we tell you about two spots that we recommend among the many illumination events of the suburbs of Tokyo.

Yebisu Garden Place

Baccarat, the worldly famous manufacturer of crystal glass with about 250 years of history in France. At Yebisu Garden Place, which is near enough to come from Ebisu Station, there is an illumination event using chandeliers from Baccarat. The chandeliers are 8.4 m high and 4.6 m wide, the biggest ones in Baccarat's history. One could say that it's one of the representatives of city refined illumination events.

Address:4-20 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
Period:Sat., Nov. 7, 2015 to Mon., Jan. 11, 2016

Sagamiko Illumillion

Next is the representative of illumination events in nature. It's "Sagamiko Illumillion" decorated with as much as 5,500,000 lights, the event with most lights in Kanto Area (Tokyo and the surrounding prefectures). It's normally a leisure facility built on the slope of a mountain. In winter, its slope and attractions are wrapped in gorgeous lights. It looks spectacular when you look from downside, like if the lights fell over you! You can't come by walking from Tokyo, but it's a spot you should definitely see.

One of the popular spots is "The Buckingham Palace of Lights", where characters move to the rhythm of music.

Address:Pleasure forest, 1634 Wakayanagi, Midori-ku, Sagamihara City, Kanagawa
Period:Sat., Oct. 31, 2015 to Sun., Apr. 10, 2016
* It's held every day over the periods from Oct. 31 to Jan. 11 and from Mar. 18 to Apr. 3. Apart from those periods, it's held on certain days, such as Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays.

At such illumination spots, people want to upload pictures and movies on SNSs like Facebook and Twitter. If you upload them in real time, your family and friends might enjoy it as if they were there. What you need at such times is a smart phone or tablet with internet connection.

We recommend the low-cost YAMADA SIM card especially designed for price-sensitive travelers who want Internet access throughout their stay in Japan. This card is offered by major electronic retailer "Yamada Denki". Fast data connectivity is available simply by inserting this exclusive SIM card into compatible devices. (Customers are advised that even though Internet accessible areas are available through Japan's largest communication providers, coverage in tourist spots are subject to the network ranges available).

There are different types of plans based on the duration of their usage, with the 7-day plan (1,800 yen before tax), 15-day plan (2,800 yen before tax) and the 30-day plan (3,500 yen before tax). For each plan, high-speed data is available at a maximum speed of 150Mbps, up to 200MB per day (*).

* If the amount of high-speed data used in a single day exceeds 200MB, the data speed will be restricted to 200Kbps until 23:59 of that day. This restriction will be released on the following day.
