This is a Wagashi (Japanese confectionery). Family Mart combined warabi-mochi with Kinako (sweet soy bean flour) and Matcha powder. You can’t go wrong with this combination. The package protects the Matcha from the light to maintain quality.
As soon as I opened the package, a nice matcha aroma hit my nose. The tray is about 10cm square and there were 6 oval shaped warabi-mochi in it. The amount of Matcha kinako powder was so generous.
2 warabi-mochi were buried so I couldn’t see them at first.
I lifted the warabi-mochi out of the tray. It was so soft it almost tore off before I got it into my mouth! Oh My goodness! The warabi-mochi was a soft texture and it melted in my mouth. I live for moments like this. The powder they used had a perfect balance between the sweetness and bitterness of Matcha. It also had a nice roasted flavour from the Kinako. The Warabi-mochi itself had a nice sweetness as well.
I cut it in half… Yes it’s green all the way through. I could tell the Matcha was kneaded into the warabi-mochi.
This is not a high calorie sweet, so enjoy it guilt free!
