At first sight you even wouldn’t believe it’s a cream puff. It’s a square instead of the usual round shape.
The dough is baked at a low heat and then at a high heat to enhance the flavour. The colour of the dough is an inviting golden brown.
It’s about 8cm× 8cm square and about 4cm thick. Pretty big.
The surface is coated with a thin layer of sugar then baked to perfection.
I cut it in half, the pastry was so crusty. Inside was plenty of custard cream with real vanilla beans. The taste was up to my expectations. The light pastry shell and the rich custard filling were to die for!
Personally I like this style of cream puff better than general cream puffs. It was a generous size for the price as well! When you eat it I recommend cutting it in half first to avoid the custard squeezing out the sides.
