The "Kobe Luminarie," which began in 1995 as an event symbolizing the hope of Kobe and to pass on the memories of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, will celebrate its 29th occurrence starting January 19, 2024. The theme for the 2024 event is "Kobe, Shining Light into the Future." In addition to the traditional venues of KOBE EAST PARK and the former foreign settlement, this year will also feature Meriken Park as a new location for the display.

At KOBE EAST PARK, a light wall hanging "Suppariella" will be installed in the southwest of the lawn plaza, and the light cathedral "Cassa Armonica" will be set up in the southern park as a music stage. In the former foreign settlement, light sign artworks will be displayed starting at the plaza in front of the Mitsui Sumitomo Bank Kobe Head Office, among other locations. Exhibits throughout each venue enhance walkability and help avoid congestion.

Meriken Park, a new venue, will feature a 70-meter-long corridor of light in the southeast green pathway. This is a ticketed area with limited entry by time slots, allowing for leisurely viewing. Zones displaying works with sponsor names can be viewed for free. There will also be food trucks.
