Over 700 animals of around 100 different species are housed at the Morioka City Zoological Park! From large animals like African elephants, giraffes, and lions, to Japan-native species such as Japanese monkeys, Japanese hares, green pheasants, and golden eagles, to Canadian otters, bighorn sheep, and pumas gifted to the zoo by Canada’s Victoria City, there are tons of animals to meet!

Rather than only being able to look, the zoo also offers visitors the chance to ride ponies or pet rabbits, chicks, and guinea pigs. Weekend special events are also abundant.
The park also has a large open lawn area available, where guests can bring lunch and have a picnic!
Entry is free for children and only 500 yen for adults, so the Morioka City Zoological Park is a budget-friendly trip that you can enjoy without breaking the bank. It is a great place for families with children to visit!
