Fukuoka Castle Cherry Blossom Festival

Every year a grand cherry blossom festival is held in Fukuoka City’s Maizuru Park, where around 1000 cherry trees bloom beautifully in the spring.
Fukuoka Castle, with a history of over 400 years, also stands in the park’s grounds. (The castle is sometimes also referred to as Maizuru Castle.)
During the cherry blossom festival, the park is packed with people coming to look at the flowers, all the way into the night!

Gourmet Food Stalls

Over 90 gourmet food stalls gather around the park during the flower-viewing season.

Light-Up

After 6:00pm, the cherry trees are illuminated, casting a different atmosphere on the park in the evening than it has in the daytime.
It’s hard to resist taking photos of the view of lit up cherry trees reflected on the water’s surface!
Starting at 6:00pm, a special area (Sakuraen [castle tower], Tamonyagura, O-taka Yashiki) featuring bamboo candles and musical performances opens up with paid entry, so visitors can enjoy an even more fantastical atmosphere within the park. (Admission 300 yen)
