The Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori will be celebrating its 63rd holding in 2019.
The festival was developed with the help of residents who formerly lived in Tokushima Prefecture, and in the present day, it is the second-largest Awa Odori celebration, just behind Tokushima City’s Awa Odori!

Around 10,000 participants on 150 teams from across the country participate, and around 1 million people fill the area to spectate the events.
The Awa Odori is danced by all the groups, but each team has their own unique spin on the performance. The powerful dance and energetic shouts fill the entire city with lively exuberance!
There are also plenty of food stalls set up during the event period, so you can fully enjoy the Japanese summer festival atmosphere.
