In your country, is there a certain ointment that you know most families have on hand?

In Japan, that ointment is Oronine H. Oronine H Ointment has been a staple in many Japanese households for over 60 years. It helps relieve a wide range of skin problems, including cracked skin, chapped skin, chilblains, minor cuts and scrapes, acne, minor burns, and more.

The 50 g tube type first went on sale in March 2017. Until then, only the easy-to-carry 11 g size was available in tube form. Numerous customers voiced their desire for a larger size, and Otsuka Pharmaceutical introduced the 50 g tube in response. Due to its construction, there's no worry of the tube breaking or having its coating peel off, so you can enjoy the product until it's all gone.

See below for details on how to use Oronine H Ointment.

Cracked Skin, Chapped Skin, and Chilblains

As the hands and feet generally don't sweat or produce much sebum, they have a tendency of getting overly dry when exposed to the cold or dry air. This often leaves them in a cracked and chapped state, which can also be painful. Chilblains occur when the ears, fingers, toes, etc., get cold and then are warmed up too quickly, causing blood to leak from the blood vessels. For these skin problems, it is helpful to increase circulation to the extremities via moisturizing, massage, and replenishing vitamin E levels. This especially applies to those who work around water in the winter months.

Minor Cuts and Scrapes

In the case of minor cuts and scrapes, it is advised that you clean the affected area sufficiently before applying a thin layer of ointment. Particularly in the summer months, we tend to spend more time outdoors and going on excursions. We recommend always carrying a tube of Oronine H Ointment with you when you head out on your adventures—just in case!

Acne

The first step to getting rid of acne is to keep your face clean by using an oil-removing face wash regularly. Reducing your sugar intake, having regular bowel movements, and avoiding oil-based cosmetics is helpful as well. You can also apply a small amount of Oronine H Ointment to existing pimples. If it's too sticky, just wipe the area lightly with a towel or gauze.

Pimples are caused by the excessive production of sebum in the pores.

Minor Burns

Burns that turn red but do not blister are considered minor burns. In the case of a minor burn, applying a layer of Oronine H Ointment to the burn and wrapping it in gauze can help alleviate the condition of the skin.

Oronine H Ointment is a good option for minor burns as well.

Although it can be found at most drugstores in Japan, we’ve taken the liberty of listing 3 locations near major train stations where we are sure it can be purchased.
