Mt. Fuji × Cherry Blossom Collaboration! A 2 Day 1 Night Model Route Using a Great Deal on a JR Pass!
Cherry blossoms are a quintessential part of spring in Japan! The Kanto region is home to many locations where you can enjoy beautiful views of cherry blossoms. This time, we will be introducing popular cherry blossom viewing locations where you can enjoy a combination view of the flowers and Mt. Fuji! Certain locations also host events during the cherry blossom season, so be sure to check that out too!
Here is this time’s model route, which takes you through Japan’s gorgeous scenery over 2 days and 1 night!

Day 1
Departing from Shinjuku Station, our first stop on the itinerary is Kawaguchiko Station. As you might expect from the base of Mt. Fuji, this is the location of one of our recommended locations where you can see both Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms together.
1) Mt. Fuji × Somei Yoshino! Fuji・Kawaguchiko Sakura Festival
Here you can enjoy the view of cherry blossoms against the backdrop of magnificent Mt. Fuji and the lake surface from the northern side of the Lake Kawaguchi and Ubuyagasaki. The “Fuji•Kawaguchiko Sakura Festival” is held along the perimeter of Lake Kawaguchi. The festival hosts not only cherry blossom viewings, but a variety of other events for all ages. Enjoy the lovely cherry blossoms while taking a stroll through the rows of trees.
Local specialties and delicacies are also sold at the festival. The cherry trees are lit up at night while they are in full bloom.

2) An Activity to Enjoy Lake Kawaguchi to the Fullest! Canoeing Experience
Be sure to enjoy some of the unique activities offered in the Lake Kawaguchi area after seeing the cherry blossoms! The Canadian canoeing experience, offered by the Country Lake System, is fun for all ages. The instructors carefully teach and watch over participants, so even beginners can participate without worry! Enjoy your view of the water as you look out to Mt. Fuji. Additionally, the “Aokigahara Sea of Trees and Cave Experience” program is popular among foreign tourists, so be sure to give it a look if you’re interested.

3)Mt. Fuji × Shiba-sakura! Fuji Shiba-sakura Festival
The view here is sure to take your breath away. Around 800,000 Shiba-sakura (moss pink) bloom here at this enormous area at the base of Mt. Fuji, creating a magnificent view. Be sure to take a photo of the gorgeous scene of Mt. Fuji and the Shiba-sakura together.
Also be sure to check out the “Fuji Shiba-sakura Festival,” packed with treats you can only find here, like limited sweets and foot baths. There are plenty of fun events scheduled.
The magnificent Mt. Fuji is visible from anywhere at the venue.

4) Relax in a Bath With a View of Mt. Fuji
Relax your tired muscles after your day of exploring in an onsen. “Koraku Onyado Fuji Ginkei” is a facility whose appeal lies not only in the view of Mt. Fuji from every room, but also in the open-air bath with a view of Mt. Fuji on the top floor. Take some time and relax your body and mind. You can also enjoy the facility’s warm reception with their variety of available dishes using seasonal ingredients.

Day 2
5) Mt. Fuji × Somei Yoshino! Arakurayama Sengen Park
Our second day also starts out with a gorgeous view of cherry blossoms. Arakurayama Sengen Park is the most popular view of Mt. Fuji in the Fuji Five Lakes area, and the beautiful scenery attracts tourists from within and outside of Japan. When the approximately 650 Somei Yoshino cherry trees in the park are in bloom, they create a breathtaking and stunning view. This is the only place where you can get Mt. Fuji, a five-story pagoda, and cherry blossoms in a single photo.
The Arakurayama Sengen Park Cherry Blossom Festival features things like stage events and booths packed with local gourmet dishes.

6) Local Gourmet Dishes! Kofu Torimotsu-Ni at “Okuto”
Be sure to enjoy some of the local cuisine after spending your day enjoying the cherry blossoms and Mt. Fuji.
Okuto was the first restaurant to serve the local gourmet dish kofu torimotsu-ni, chicken organs simmered and dressed in a salty-sweet sauce made with sugar and soy sauce. The delightful balance between sweet and spicy goes perfectly with rice as a main dish or sake as a side.
