Tanrei Gokujo (Nama)

A Studied and Carefully Crafted Sparkling Liquor for Beer Lovers

Last update :

This long-selling brand first hit the shelves in 1998. Tanrei has led the market for “happoshu,” a type of sparkling liquor, which is subject to lower liquor taxes than beer under Japan’s liquor tax laws.
By utilizing a “double brewing method” where malt and barley are both brewed in optimal conditions, they are able to maximize the quality of the ingredients used and achieve a sharp flavor while maintaining drinkability.
This is a popular drink because of its balanced taste and drinkability, while still maintaining the satisfaction that comes from a beer.

Highlights

  • Happoshu rather than beer, but still has beer-like sharpness and richness.
  • Made with plenty of Nijo barley.
  • Available in a variety of sizes, from 135ml cans to 15L casks.
