Shogi pieces are made from boxwood, and after applying washi paper, craftsmen carve each one by hand without any drafts. Their technique is so skilled—the characters are always neat, powerful, and perfectly sized.

Since it's not cherry blossom season yet, there aren't many people here. It's just a simple park.

Heian Jingu Shrine was built to honor the emperor. The huge torii gate outside is a symbolic landmark.

At first, I almost wanted to give up when I saw all those stairs. But as I slowly made my way up, the scenery just kept getting more beautiful, and I could enjoy views of the waterfall along the way. The shrine is really well maintained and preserved. Honestly, it was totally worth the effort.

These deer are like they've been professionally trained! As soon as visitors have food in their hands, the deer will swarm around them. A lot of people actually get scared and run away. It's pretty wild.

The free fall ride is super thrilling! It drops in two stages, and when it goes straight down, you barely have time to scream before it's over. I was still in shock afterward—my legs were actually shaking as I walked away.

This is a must-visit spot for fans of Hayao Miyazaki's films. The interior is beautifully decorated, and the displays showing how the animations are made are really detailed and impressive. If you've seen Miyazaki's movies, you'll definitely feel a connection here.

It's really close to the city, so doing a round trip in one day is no problem. Mount Takao isn't very high, so hiking isn't too tough. If you get tired, you can always take the cable car—super convenient.
