Shibayamagata Lakeside Park

Take in a seven-color-changing lake at a glance! A relaxing park that also draws cherry blossom viewers in spring.

Last update :

Located on the shore of “Shibayamagata,” known for the lake surface changing color throughout the day under the morning and evening sun. From the park, you can take in panoramic views of “Shibayamagata,” including the floating temple pavilion lit up at dusk, and in winter you can also see whooper swans and other birds spending the season here. On clear days, another highlight is the view of the majestic “Mt. Hakusan” across the lake.

Beyond the beautiful scenery, it’s also a well-known cherry blossom spot. When Approx. 160 cherry trees are in full bloom, many visitors come to stroll through the lawn-covered plaza and enjoy a relaxing day out.

After taking in the views, stop by the adjacent “Ukichiro Nakaya Museum of Snow and Ice.” This museum honors the achievements of Dr. Ukichiro Nakaya, a local pioneer who created the world’s first artificial snow, and offers plenty of fascinating attractions, including a diamond dust recreation experiment.
