Lake Kuzuryu
Enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery and activities throughout the year.
Mountains close in, the water stretches out, and the scale of the Kuzuryu Dam-128 m tall and 355 m wide-quickly makes itself felt. Formed by damming the Kuzuryu River during dam construction, Lake Kuzuryu leaves a particularly dynamic impression.
When spring arrives, the area around the lake gradually turns a soft shade of pink. Approx. 2,000 cherry trees—Somei Yoshino, Yamazakura, and Yaezakura—planted along roughly 15 km of roadside burst into bloom. More than 50 years have passed since planting began, and many of the trees now have impressive, well-shaped branches. Peak viewing is typically in late April, 2–3 weeks later than in the city area.
There is an auto campground nearby. In summer, try activities like kayaking and SUP and enjoy time by the water. In fall, take in the autumn leaves, and in winter, admire snowy scenery—an easy place to enjoy nature in every season.
