Monzen no Megumi Tairagi
A restaurant and shop facility attached to the Nihondaira Ropeway Station.
Nihondaira has even been chosen No. 1 in Japan’s Top 100 Tourist Attractions. This restaurant and shop complex is attached to the Nihondaira Ropeway Station, linking the 307-meter hilltop with Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, a historic site connected to Tokugawa Ieyasu.
In 2021, the Nihondaira Ropeway Station was renovated for the first time in 50 years, and the facility was completely refreshed. At the dining area Hana Aoi, you’ll find meal options centered on soba and Shizuoka ingredients. They’re particular about using Shizuoka-grown rice and 100% locally grown Kuno green onions.
The signature dish here is a set meal called the Ogoshō Gozen. The main item is “Kinako Soba,” made by kneading roasted soybean flour into the noodles. It also comes with a generous vegetable kakiage fritter and “Negi Manma,” featuring Kuno-grown green onions, for a satisfying spread.
In the shop, you’ll find plenty of popular picks, from Shizuoka specialties and famous sweets to items inspired by Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. Another standout is the “Faucet Mikan Juice.” Turn the tap and 100% straight mandarin orange juice from Shizuoka flows out—fun for both adults and kids. They also sell soft-serve made with this faucet mikan juice, so be sure to try it too.
