Toba Marché

This producer-direct market and locally sourced buffet restaurant is just a 2-minute walk from Toba Station. In the direct-sales area, you’ll find seafood landed that day, seasonal local vegetables and fruit, processed foods, and deli items themed around food and wellness. Fish you buy can be cleaned on the spot (scaling and gutting), and for a fee can also be filleted into three pieces or made into sashimi. Rice is sold at the takeout counter, so you can even make your own seafood rice bowl with freshly prepared sashimi.

The locally sourced buffet restaurant serves menus themed around wellness and tradition. Along with the local specialty tekone-zushi (a regional dish of seasoned fresh fish mixed into sushi rice), you can enjoy a wide range of dishes—from local sashimi and tempura to gratin and curry. Another highlight is the location, where you can dine with views of Toba Bay (the menu may vary by day).

Don’t miss the footbath in the plaza in front of the shop—relax while watching passing boats and seagulls.
