Hirakubo Cape

Hirakubo Peninsula sits on the nature-rich northern part of Ishigaki Island, home to Hirakubo Cape at the island's northernmost point. Situated about a 40-minute drive from Ishigaki Airport, this is the local hotspot for breathtaking views.

Drive through serene pasturelands where cows leisurely roam, before parking and walking towards an extraordinary panorama: a perfectly straight horizon stretching out before you, the East China Sea to your left, and the Pacific Ocean to your right, entirely unobstructed. The sea, changing colors thanks to coral reefs, combined with the vivid blue sky and the white lighthouse standing at the cape’s edge, creates a picturesque scene reminiscent of a postcard. The views here are stunning at any time—whether during the day, at sunset when the vibrant red sun slowly dips below the horizon, or at night when countless stars fill the sky. Notably, the lighthouse has been recognized by the "Lighthouse Lovers Project" as a romantic sanctuary, making it particularly popular among couples.

While Hirakubo Cape attracts visitors throughout the day, the parking area is limited, and you might experience a wait during peak times. Additionally, the location near the ocean means strong winds are common, so take precautions to ensure hats or sunshades don’t fly away.
