Hazu Cape is located at Morozaki Port, where high-speed ferries also depart and arrive for Himakajima and Shinojima, and sits at the southernmost tip of the Chita Peninsula. Most of the cape is a sacred grove that surrounds the precincts of Hazu Shrine enshrined here. A primeval ubame oak forest spreads across the area and is designated a National Natural Monument as “Hazu Shrine Shaso.”

An Approx. 800 m path running through the shrine grove is also known as the “Love Romance Road.” Ubame oaks grow thick like a tunnel, and it’s popular with visitors heading to Hazu Shrine, known as a power spot for finding love. At the cape’s highest point is a wooden observation deck, and in front of Hazu Shrine’s main hall is a concrete observation deck, each offering sweeping views of Mikawa Bay, Ise Bay, the Atsumi Peninsula, and more.

Walk along the coastline around sunset to see a beautiful sun sinking into the sea. There is also a commemorative monument for “Hazu Cape,” a song by the Nagoya-based idol group SKE48, and many fans visit it as a pilgrimage site.

  • When the weather’s nice, the view where the sea meets the sky is seriously soothing. If you come around sunset, the whole cape is wrapped in this orange-red glow—super dreamy. It’s a great place to just sit and zone out, and it’s also perfect for photos.
