Menya Sanpei

Menya Sanpei is a long-established ramen restaurant with over 40 years of history located in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, known for its intense ramen competition. Hikone is famous for its local specialty, Omi Champon, featuring soy sauce-based broth seasoned with bonito and kelp, topped with vegetables and pork—Menya Sanpei is one of the restaurants proudly serving this regional dish.

The shop’s most popular offering is the Ankake Champon, a twist on Omi Champon inspired by Noppei Udon, a traditional dish from Nagahama featuring a thick, savory sauce. This champon’s noodles and ingredients are simmered in a richly thickened sauce, ensuring it remains hot and flavorful from start to finish. Regular customers frequently enjoy pouring leftover sauce onto the fried rice side dish, creating a unique Ankake Fried Rice.
