teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka

A magical art space for nature and technology in sheer harmony.

Head Editor : teamLab

A permanent nighttime outdoor museum created by the digital art collective teamLab, transforming the Nagaike Botanical Garden into a fantastical art space after dark. While it serves as a serene botanical garden during the day, at night it comes alive with immersive light and sound installations.

Interactive artworks react to nature and human interplay, including the glowing "Ovoids" in the camellia garden that change color when touched, blown by the wind, or hit by rain. Other highlights include towering sculptures shaped by the energy of nearby birds, and tree-lined paths of bald cypress and crape myrtle that glow and emit sound upon approach. Each piece harmonizes with seasonal changes, weather, and movement.

In spring, limited-time installations feature seasonal flowers like nemophila. Visitors can enhance their experience using the official guide app to read about the concepts behind each artwork. With the “Distributed Fire” app, you can even “carry home” a digital flame after visiting the Universe of Fire Particles in the Forest - Secondary Forest.

There’s no fixed route, so guests are free to wander the illuminated garden and enjoy the art at their own pace.
