Kuwana Suigo Fireworks Festival

A spectacular summer fireworks event illuminating the waterfront of Kuwana, the "City of Waterways."

Last update :

This traditional fireworks event is held in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture. First launched in 1934 to celebrate the completion of the Ise Bridge, which spans the Nagara and Ibi rivers, the festival briefly paused during wartime but has continued uninterrupted ever since.

Fireworks are set off from a sandbank on the Ibi River near the Ise Bridge, providing a uniquely captivating spectacle suited to Kuwana, a destination nicknamed the "City of Waterways”. Highlights include dazzling "Starmine" displays and massive fireworks shells—the largest in the Tokai region—which burst to an impressive diameter of approximately 450-480 meters. Spectators in reserved seating areas (paid seats only) enjoy front-row seating to the fireworks' brilliance and power, as the proximity of the launch site creates vibrations you can physically feel.

Approximately 10,000 fireworks, including synchronized musical fireworks, create an exhilarating, unforgettable summer evening in Kuwana.

Due to expected heavy traffic and crowds on event day, walking from the nearest station is strongly recommended. If arriving by car, be sure to reserve parking in advance.
