ONE PIECE Shinkansen

Set off on the “Grand Rail”—a special Shinkansen inspired by the world of the popular anime.

Last update :

The globally renowned hit series ONE PIECE, beloved for its manga, anime, and live-action adaptation, has teamed up with the SANYO SHINKANSEN, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of its full operation in 2025. This collaboration brings the world of ONE PIECE to life on the tracks, as specially designed trains travel through the Sanyo area—an area between mountains and the sea that closely resembles the setting of the series.

The first train, named the “Setouchi Blue” Train, is now running with a blue exterior inspired by the Seto Inland Sea. The train is adorned with specially drawn ONE PIECE characters both inside and out. Even the on-board chimes and announcements are customized. Fans won’t want to miss this immersive experience—including the restrooms designed like pirate wanted posters, which make for a great photo spot. Starting May 28, 2025, a second train themed after Chopper of the Straw Hat Pirates—the “Tony Tony. Chopper” Train—will begin service, followed by the “Monkey D. Luffy” Train featuring the series’ protagonist on July 2. A total of three unique trains will operate at random.

These trains mainly run as Kodama services on the route between Shin-Osaka and Hakata (some between Okayama and Hakata). No additional fees are required; you can ride them with a Shinkansen basic fare ticket and a limited express ticket.
