Located along the open and spacious Arakawa riverbed-popular for walking and cycling-the Niji no Hiroba (Rainbow Plaza) is a beloved relaxation spot for residents of Adachi City. Nestled between two baseball fields, the plaza features eight arch-shaped flowerbeds where visitors can enjoy seasonal blooms. There is no parking area, so the best access is on foot from Kita-Senju Station.

In spring, around 14,000 tulips and pansies burst into color, delighting visitors with their vivid beauty. The tulips are planted in seven colors, matching the bricks laid between the flowerbeds. When viewed from the top of the embankment at full bloom, the scene resembles a large, vibrant rainbow. In summer, the garden comes alive with canna lilies, marigolds, and other seasonal flowers.

The Arakawa riverbed is also the site of the Adachi Fireworks Festival, where about 13,000 fireworks light up the night sky, attracting over 600,000 spectators each year. Slightly away from the main venue, Niji no Hiroba serves as a lesser-known but excellent free viewing spot. In autumn, the plaza transforms again as it becomes one of the venues for the Adachi Citizens’ Festival, which features stage performances, stamp rallies, and other fun events.
