Yamanashi, Kawaguchiko Herb Festival
The “Kawaguchiko Herb Festival” is a major annual event for Lake Kawaguchi in the early summer. It begins in mid-June, and it lasts for roughly a month.
Around 100,000 stalks of lavender grow along the lakeside area, with the main areas for viewing the flowers being Yagizaki Park and Oishi Park.
Enjoy the rejuvenating combination of a view of Mt. Fuji and the scent of lavender.
Oishi Park
Oishi Park is a gorgeous location, where you can see Mt. Fuji in the background of a view of Lake Kawaguchi and the beds of lavender!
Many photographers visit this area.
The Natural Living Center in Oishi Park offers jam-making classes and sells souvenirs.
Enjoy taking a break at the café, which offers a view of Mt. Fuji.
Oishi Park “Flower Niagara”
Every year from June through October, the park is decorated with begonias, inspired by images of Niagara Falls.The best time to see the Flower Niagara is in July and August.
Yagizaki Park
Yagizaki Park is located on the opposite shore as Oishi Park.
Yagizaki Park is home to the Kanto region’s largest bed of lavender.
The park also has an event venue, so you can really enjoy the festival atmosphere.
Oishi Park, with its beautiful scenic location with a backdrop of Mt. Fuji, and Yagizaki Park, with its lavender fields, stalls, and events, are only around 10 minutes apart by car, so be sure to visit them both!
Additionally, the “Mt. Fuji Climbing Season Opening Fireworks Celebration” will be held on July 6st, 2019. Fireworks will be launched from Lake Kawaguchi’s shore from 20:00 until 20:30, so don’t miss it!
