JR EAST PASS (Tohoku Area)

This free-to-ride pass is available for global tourists and foreign Japan residents alike. It offers unlimited rides for 5 days on JR East lines, including bullet trains, limited express trains, BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), the entire Tokyo Monorail line, the entire Aoimori Railway line, and the entire Iwate Galaxy Railway (IGR) line, covering the area from Kanto to Tohoku. A major perk is the unlimited use of reserved seats on bullet trains and limited express trains within the valid period.

Use this pass to explore seemingly endless trips through picturesque backdrops and nature escapes at tourist spots between Sendai and Yamagata, all the way up to Aomori in the north using the bullet train. The same pass can even be used for getting around spots in and around the Tokyo neighborhood like Akihabara, Shinjuku, and Kamakura. Depending on your itinerary, this single ticket might just cover your entire East Japan travels.

Please note that some routes/services may have limited applicable areas, such as those on the Tobu Railway and JR Buses. Similar rules to note include requiring presentation of your physical passport or a voucher for purchase, and not being able to change the valid period once decided at the time of pass exchange.
