Over four days from Thursday, January 8 to Sunday, January 11, 2026, “The Japan Rail Fair 2026” will be held in Kuala Lumpur.
The event showcases Japan’s appeal through hands-on experiences for Malaysians with a strong interest in Japanese food, travel, and culture.
This article introduces an overview of the event, the background behind its launch, and specific things you can enjoy at the venue.
With activities such as Sendai strawberry sales and tourism promotions for the Tohoku area, a key feature of this event is that visitors can not only “learn” about Japan but also “taste it and imagine traveling.”
For those considering a trip to Japan or interested in Japanese food culture, it offers content that helps them picture their next visit to Japan.

What Is “The Japan Rail Fair 2026”?

“The Japan Rail Fair 2026” (TJRF) is an event aimed at showcasing Japan-related content, organized by JR East Business Development Malaysia of the JR EAST Group.
The company operates a dining floor featuring a collection of Japanese eateries at Lot 10, a commercial building in central Kuala Lumpur, and has routinely delivered Japanese food culture locally.
Now, as a further development of those efforts, it will hold TJRF for the first time.
The event runs for four days from Thursday, January 8 to Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
The venue is the Lot 10 Ground Floor, directly connected to the MRT and Monorail.
Lot 10 is located in the Bukit Bintang area, one of Kuala Lumpur’s leading entertainment districts, and is known as a commercial building where Japan-related products and eateries are concentrated.
It attracts many visitors, especially people in their 20s and 30s, and is a location with strong affinity for Japanese culture.

Japanese “Food” and “Travel” Experiences at “The Japan Rail Fair 2026”

At TJRF, you can experience Japan’s appeal through both “food” and “travel.”
Through seasonal flavors you can enjoy at the venue and information that sparks your desire to travel, you will find offerings that make Japan feel more familiar.
Here, we introduce two experiences.

1. Taste Seasonal Sendai Strawberries Kept Fresh

At the venue, Sendai strawberries harvested at JR Fruits Park Sendai ARAHAMA, which opened in March 2021 in the eastern coastal area of Sendai City, are being sold.
These Sendai strawberries were delivered to Malaysia while staying fresh by combining the speed-focused small-parcel delivery service “Hako-byun” with air transport.
Through their sweetness and juiciness, you can experience the care that goes into Japan’s agricultural products and logistics.

Get Tourism Information to Picture a Trip to Tohoku

At the event booths, you can find easy-to-understand introductions to how to get to Tohoku from Tokyo, as well as sightseeing spots in Sendai and other areas.
While taking in the appeal of nature, cityscapes, and culture, you can imagine where you would like to visit.
For visitors considering a trip to Japan, it becomes an opportunity to picture Tohoku specifically as their next destination.

Wrap-up

TJRF is an event where you can experience the appeal of Japanese food and the fun of traveling in Japan as one.
Through the sale of fresh Sendai strawberries and the sharing of tourism information for the Tohoku area, it will be a place where Japan feels more familiar.
In the heart of Kuala Lumpur, where Japan enthusiasts gather, these four days are worth watching as they turn interest in Japan into a next step.
