Chiyoho Inari Shrine, nicknamed Ochobo-san, is one of Japan’s three Inari shrines along with Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto and Toyokawa Inari in Aichi. Standing on 550 years of history, it enshrines Oomioya no Okami, Inari no Okami, and Mioya no kami (ancestor gods). It is believed to bring success to business and safety to homes, About 2 million a year visit from in and out of the prefecture.
It is unique in that you offer fried bean curd pierced with a straw along with a candle. Traditions are you purchase the bean curd and a candle at a shop near the entrance, offer the candle at the lighting area, and offer some money and the bean curd at the warship hall.
Tsukikoshi (passing the month) Festival is held from the end of each month to the 1st of the next month. Many visit throughout the night to thank for the blessings of the current month and make a wish for the next month.
Along the 700m (230 ft) approach, about 120 booths and eateries stand, attracting visitors throughout the year who enjoy eating and shopping.
