Last update :

Izaka Onsen is easily accessible from JR Fukushima Station by a 20-minute ride on the Fukushima Kotsu Iizaka Line and is a familiar hot spring resort for the people of Fukushima. The history of the hot spring is long. It is said that Yamatotakeru, who had fallen ill during his expedition to the east 2,000 years ago, recovered instantly after soaking in the hot spring water. Matsuo Basho, Masaoka Shiki, Yosano Akiko, Helen Keller, and others have visited the hot springs. Many monuments in the hot springs resort depict the excellent hot springs.

There are hotels and inns of various sizes built around the Surikami River and its tributaries. In the hot spring resort area, the locals still love nine public bathhouses, allowing visitors to enjoy a tour of the outside bathhouses. "Sabako-Yu," the oldest bathhouse in Iizaka Onsen, offers a blissful experience surrounded by the fragrance of Hiba (Japanese cypress).

The spring is a clear, colorless, simple hot spring. It is effective for neuralgia, chronic digestive diseases, and recovery from illness. It is generally known as "hot water. It contains trace amounts of radium, and "radium eggs" boiled in the hot spring water are a specialty.
