This very Japanese-like hot spring resort, called Yunogawa, spreads around Soyu. It has a 1300-year history, beloved by artists such as Yosano Akiko, Izumi Kyoka and Kitaoji Rosanjin. There are Rosanjin’s Iroha Soan where he stayed for half a year, Kutani ware museum, potteries, galleries and more intriguing places to visit.
Of the two public bathhouses in the resort, Kosoyu was restored after Soyu in the Meiji period, where Yuami was practiced - you just soak in the hot spring in this therapeutic bath. Kutani-ware tiles, used on the floors and walls of the bathroom, and wistful designs in the relaxing area are part of this experience-based hot spring museum where you can learn about the history and culture of onsen. Soyu was built, commemorating 1300-years of this hot spring resort. It provides 100% natural quality hot spring and the ample space for your comfort.
Around Soyu, more than 20 lodgings stand, each of which has a uniquely designed hot spring. Most of them are open to visitors. Hop around different inns and enjoy soaking.
