Shinagawa Flower Road

A scenic flower road along the Katsushima Canal, where you can enjoy seasonal blooms on a seawall walkway.

Last update :

Shinagawa Flower Road is a flower bed built on a seawall stretching for Approx. 2 km along the Katsushima Canal. With the slogan “Let’s turn the Katsushima Canal embankment into a flower field,” local residents—individuals, schools, and companies—work together each year to sow seeds. In spring, you’ll see rapeseed blossoms and cherry blossoms, and in autumn, cosmos flowers and other seasonal blooms brighten the path and delight visitors.

Today, it’s also a popular walking route for the neighborhood. From around April to October, you may even spot the rare and beautiful Chinese Windmill butterfly (Byasa alcinous) fluttering near the water. The route is open to everyone, making it a perfect place for a relaxing stroll and waterfront views between sightseeing stops.
