Shiki Kaisen Shunka

Shiki Kaisen Shunka is the coveted eatery on the second floor of Goryokaku Tower, one of Hakodate’s landmark destinations. Known and loved by locals, this Japanese restaurant specializes in seafood freshly landed at Hakodate Port, renowned for its excellent harbor.

Each morning, the owner personally selects seafood from Hakodate’s wholesale market, purchasing only enough for the day's needs and preparing it immediately at the restaurant. Part of the charm is that the recommended dishes change daily, based on the freshest available ingredients. In addition to seafood, dishes feature an abundance of local ingredients, allowing guests to fully savor the seasonal flavors of Hakodate.

At lunchtime, the hearty seafood rice bowls and traditional set meals, including sashimi and tempura, are popular choices. For both tourists and business patrons, the monthly changing mini-course lunch (reservations required by the previous day) is highly recommended. For dinner, there’s a monthly seasonal kaiseki course (also reservations required by the previous day), offering delicacies such as sashimi selected according to the day’s catch and seasonal tempura of locally grown vegetables and seafood from Southern Hokkaido.
