Located a bit away from the bustling streets of the historic Kinosaki Onsen, which boasts a history of over 1300 years, stands Tokiwa Bekkan, a peaceful onsen ryokan. Originally situated within the hot spring town, the inn was relocated to its current location and renovated to become a serene space surrounded by gardens. With only 23 rooms spread out over a vast 1,200 tsubo (approximately 4,000 square meters) property, guests can leisurely enjoy the hot springs of Kinosaki.

The guest rooms include Japanese-style rooms with a view of the inner courtyard, rooms with private open-air baths, and rooms with cypress baths, offering a variety of unique atmospheres. The Japanese garden in the courtyard is planted with seasonal flora and is illuminated at night. Both the men’s and women’s public baths come with open-air baths, allowing guests to relax in the hot springs without leaving the inn. In addition, the seven public baths of Kinosaki Onsen are within walking distance, providing ample opportunity to enjoy a tour of the different baths.

Meals are served in the guest rooms, featuring a monthly kaiseki (traditional multi-course meal) with a focus on local ingredients, as well as hot pot dishes. The menu primarily features seafood from the Sea of Japan, with a variety of seasonal ingredients. The winter courses featuring Matsuba crab and Tsuiyama crab are also highly recommended.
