The Kanzanji Ropeway connects Hamanako Palpal amusement park with the 113-meter-high summit of Mt. Okusa. It is Japan’s only ropeway that crosses over a lake, stretching 723 meters in length and offering about four minutes of scenic “air travel.”

From the large cabin windows, you can enjoy sweeping views of Lake Hamana and the Pacific Ocean. At the mountaintop Okusa Observatory, a 360-degree panorama unfolds: Kanzanji Onsen town below, Okuhamana to the north, and the Enshunada Sea to the south. On clear days with crisp air, you might even catch a glimpse of Mt. Fuji in the distance. Well-maintained walking trails make it perfect for a leisurely stroll while taking in the fresh greenery of summer or the vibrant autumn foliage.

At the summit, the Hamanako Orgel Museum is a must-see attraction. This specialty museum features Swiss and German music boxes, concerts of self-playing instruments, and even hands-on workshops where you can make your own music box. Discounted set tickets that include a round-trip on the ropeway are available, making it an ideal stop on your visit.
