Come spring, Approx. 2,000 cherry trees burst into bloom, turning Oboshi Park and the surrounding area into a sea of pink. The display is so highly regarded that it was selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots-one reason it draws so many hanami visitors in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Cherry blossoms with Mt. Fuji in the background make for a view that feels like “this is Japanese spring!”—well worth adding to your trip memories.

Each year, the Oboshi Sakura Festival is typically held from late March to early April. During the festival, you’ll find food stalls and events that keep the atmosphere lively. The park is also illuminated at night, so you can enjoy a slightly different kind of cherry blossom viewing than during the day.
