Irago Ocean Resort
An ocean-view resort hotel at the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula, with sea views from every room.
A resort hotel that reopened after renovations in 2023. Set on a hill stretching out at the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula, the hotel offers ocean views from every room. From the Pacific-facing rooms where you can watch the sunrise, you can take in scenic spots such as Katahama Jusanri and Hi-no-Ishimon at a glance. From mid-January to around the end of March, you can also look out over vast fields of blooming canola flowers.
From the Ise Bay-facing rooms, you can also enjoy views of Koijigahama Beach and Kamishima Island, known as the setting of Yukio Mishima’s novel The Sound of Waves.
The large communal bath with natural hot springs is filled with “Irago Onsen,” a sodium, calcium-chloride spring. It’s known for retaining warmth, and its mildly alkaline waters are also famous as a “beauty bath.” The sweeping views of sea and sky from the open-air bath are truly spectacular and help you unwind.
The dining options are also extensive. At the buffet restaurant “Irago Bold Kitchen,” you can enjoy to your heart’s content a wide variety of dishes made with carefully selected ingredients from the Atsumi Peninsula. At the seaside restaurant “Tridente,” which serves course meals such as Japanese and French cuisine, you can also savor seasonal flavors like Atsumi Peninsula vegetables and seafood from Mikawa Bay.
