Yukiyagawa Dam Forest Park Karumai
A soothing escape surrounded by nature and seasonal blooms.
This relaxing park, symbolized by a 16-meter-tall windmill, is a landmark of Karumai Town, known as a “town of flowers and greenery.” The park is surrounded by trees throughout, so you can take your time and enjoy the area’s rich natural setting. On the grounds is the expansive “Yukiyagawa Dam Lake,” held back by a 28.4-meter-high dam. The sweeping views from the bright-red Memorial Bridge that connects the park to the opposite shore are especially impressive.
The seasonal flower scenery is also well known. In spring, from late April to mid-May, around 150,000 tulips bloom across a 7,000 m² flower field. Also worth checking out are summer, when hydrangeas color the park, and fall, when the autumn leaves deepen.
There’s also a restaurant where you can enjoy local specialties, a workshop space offering soba-making experiences, “Millet Park” with cottages and a campground where you can stay overnight, and “Mill Miru House,” which mainly features a direct-sales shop for freshly harvested produce and the town’s local specialties.
