Iwaki Marine Tower
An observation tower in a park on a cape, offering sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the city of Iwaki.
Misaki Park, located on a cape at the eastern end of Onahama Port, is a popular leisure spot for Iwaki residents, with a vast site of 700,000 m² featuring lawn plazas and athletic playground equipment. The park’s symbol is the Iwaki Marine Tower, which stands out with its unique shape and striking blue-and-white two-tone design.
This observation tower opened in 1986 to mark the 20th anniversary of Iwaki’s city status. The tower itself is Approx. 60 m tall, but since the park sits on a hill 46 m above sea level, its effective height is 106 m above sea level. From the glass-walled observation room and the open-air rooftop Sky Deck, you can enjoy powerful 360-degree panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Onahama Port, and the city of Iwaki. At night, it’s illuminated, creating a truly dreamy sight that’s visible even from afar.
Misaki Park is also famous as a cherry blossom spot, with Approx. 200 Somei Yoshino trees. During the blooming season from late March to mid-April, the view from the tower’s observation deck—cherry blossoms and the blue sea—is spectacular. It’s also worth seeing the Marine Tower from the ground as it peeks out between the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
