Gunma Minakami Hodaigi Ski Resort
One of the largest ski resorts in northern Gunma, offering high-quality powder snow and breathtaking views of Mt. Tanigawa.
Located in Minakami, Gunma Prefecture, Hodaigi Ski Resort is one of the largest in northern Gunma. With a peak altitude of 1,400 meters and slopes facing primarily north, it offers consistently high-quality powder snow throughout the season.
The resort features 16 courses tailored to all skill levels, from the steep “Eagle Course” with a maximum slope of 40 degrees to the gentle “Tanpopo Course” for beginners. Intermediate skiers can enjoy the panoramic views of majestic mountains while gliding down the “Course 10.” Starting with the 2024 season, a snow park designed by SCLOVER offers snowboarders plenty of thrills with kickers, rainbow rails, and a variety of features for tricks.
Families with children can feel at ease thanks to a dedicated Kids Land and a nursery (paid service). The base lodge is equipped with restaurants serving Instagram-worthy slope-side meals and a rental shop stocked with the latest ski gear.
New for the 2024 season, the “Earthboat” trailer house accommodation-complete with a private sauna-provides a luxurious outdoor stay in harmony with nature.
Access is also a major draw: about 2 hours 30 minutes by car from Tokyo, or around 1 hour 30 minutes via Shinkansen and a free shuttle bus. Day trips are also possible, making it a convenient destination for both casual visitors and dedicated snow enthusiasts.
