A scenic viewpoint with spectacular views of Mt. Fuji.

Last update :

A spectacular viewpoint along Prefectural Route 730, stretching from Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes scattered across the northern foothills of Mt. Fuji on the Yamanashi side, to Mikuni Pass. You can overlook Lake Yamanaka below, Mt. Fuji beyond it, and on a clear day, even the Southern Alps. The dusk scenery, when the lake surface turns orange, is especially magical.

The scenery is beautiful in every season: in spring, fresh greenery grows thick, and in summer, lush and refreshing views spread out. In autumn, the area is covered with pampas grass, and you can enjoy a landscape where the entire field shines gold. It’s also recommended to take a walk through the pampas grass. Before sunrise on clear days from around December to February, you may also see the Earth’s shadow and the Venus Belt appear to the right of Mt. Fuji. The beautiful gradient that colors the sky is well worth seeing. Also, from October to February, you can see “Diamond Fuji,” when the sun aligns with the summit of Mt. Fuji.

In winter, the roads can freeze, so winter tires or chains are essential if you’re coming by car.
