Osado Skyline

Osado Skyline is a ridge road stretching Approx. 30 km, connecting Kanai in central Sado Island with Aikawa on the west coast. As you drive along mountain roads over 900 meters above sea level, you can enjoy spectacular views across the entire island, including Mano Bay, Ryotsu Bay, the Kuninaka Plain, and the Kosado Mountain Range.

One of the highlights is Hakuundai, a scenic viewpoint with an observation deck located at an elevation of Approx. 850 m. Along with sunrise and sunset, it is also a great place to enjoy sparkling night views and a sky full of stars. It is also known as a place to enjoy the changing beauty of nature throughout the seasons, with fresh greenery in spring, alpine plants in early summer, and colorful beech forests in red and yellow in autumn. You may also want to visit Otowa Pond and Ohdaira Plateau. Along the way, there are also spots such as Donden Plateau, where you can see grazing scenery, and the World Heritage Site "Sado Gold Mine," allowing you to enjoy both nature and culture.

Because the road is narrow and has a series of sharp curves, drive carefully. It is best to refuel and prepare food and drinks before arriving at Hakuundai. This is a scenic route unique to Sado Island, where you can drive in rhythm with nature.
