Kansai-San’in Area Pass
A great-value unlimited travel pass that lets you enjoy nature, history, and hot springs across Kansai and San’in for seven days.
The San’in region, home to historic hot springs and beautiful natural landscapes in Tottori and Shimane, lies beside the Kansai region, which features ancient capitals and sophisticated cities such as Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe. The area is dotted with iconic sightseeing destinations including Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Great Buddha of Nara, the Tottori Sand Dunes, and Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine. It offers a rich variety of attractions—culture, nature, food, and more—making it a region worth exploring at a leisurely pace.
Perfect for travel through Kansai and San’in, the Kansai-San’in Area Pass is available exclusively to short-term international visitors to Japan. Valid for seven consecutive days, this pass allows travel within the designated area on the Sanyo Shinkansen (between Shin-Osaka and Okayama, Ordinary Car reserved seats included), limited express trains, and local trains (including Rapid and Special Rapid services). It allows smooth and efficient travel by rail to major tourist destinations such as Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Himeji, Wakayama, and Tottori.
The pass also covers certain local bus lines (excluding highway and overnight buses) as well as limited express trains such as the SUPER HAKUTO and YAKUMO, which are convenient for sightseeing. With the flexibility to travel freely across Kansai and San’in by rail, the pass helps you plan a well-rounded and efficient journey. Even with a limited travel schedule, it enables you to visit many destinations efficiently and affordably.
The pass can be purchased via JR-WEST ONLINE TRAIN RESERVATION or through overseas travel agencies. After arriving in Japan, it can be exchanged at JR Ticket Office (Midori-no-madoguchi) or ticket vending machines at stations such as Kansai-airport Station and Osaka Station.
