Chofu Fireworks Festival

A spectacular collaboration of fireworks and music that lights up the night sky.

Last update :

The Chofu Fireworks Festival was first held in 1933. Although it was suspended during the war, it was revived in 1954 as the All-Japan Export Promotion Fireworks Competition, and since 1982 it has been celebrated under the name “Chofu Fireworks.”
Its most distinctive feature is the Hanabi-llusion, a collaboration of fireworks and music set against the majestic natural backdrop of the Tama River. Each year, fireworks are launched to different themes, delighting the audience. Around 10,000 fireworks are set off every time, making it one of the most spectacular displays in Japan.

For the best experience, paid seating near the launch site is recommended-offering stunning views up close and no need to worry about saving a spot. There are also free viewing areas, where visitors may claim a place from midnight on the day of the event. However, to ensure everyone can enjoy the show, please refrain from taking up more space than necessary.
