Okinawa Tropical Illumination
A dazzling burst of tropical flair at this botanical garden-esque illumination.
Keep a pin on the Okinawa Tropical Illumination held at Chura Sun Beach Park Okinawa’s Southeast Botanical Gardens in Okinawa City. In 2024, it won second place nationwide for the second year in a row in the Illumination Awards (Illumination Event Category) selected by certified nightscape professionals.
With the theme “A Paradise of Light Filled with Tropical Seas and Flowers,” the event showcases a full spectacle and astounding motifs unique to a botanical garden like the grand lotus blossoms, palm trees, hibiscus, and jade vines. The highlight is the “Lotus of Light” area, where summer-blooming lotus flowers are recreated with lights, accompanied by music and lasers for a breathtaking experience.
Each original illumination is meticulously installed by hand, creating a magical atmosphere throughout the garden that captivates visitors.
The event runs from late October to late May. Evening admission starts at 4:30 p.m., with the lights on from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.
