Keep a pin on the Okinawa Tropical Illumination held at Chura Sun Beach Park Okinawa’s Southeast Botanical Gardens in Okinawa City. In 2025,the event ranked No.1 nationwide in the Outstanding SDGs Award category for Illumination Events at the Illumination Awards,selected by certified night view tourism specialists.
Under the theme “Okinawa’s Ocean Shines at Night, Too,” the illuminations recreate Okinawa’s enchanting underwater world,featuring a whale shark approximately 20meters long and graceful manta rays swimming through a sea of light. Throughout the botanical garden, visitors can also enjoy distinctive illuminations inspired by lotus flowers,palm trees, hibiscus, and jade vines.
Each original illumination is meticulously installed by hand, creating a magical atmosphere throughout the garden that captivates visitors.
The event runs from late October to late May. Evening admission starts at 4:30 p.m., with the lights on from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.
