  • You can find all kinds of traditional craft and handmade shops here. The souvenirs and gifts are full of Japanese traditional culture and craftsmanship, making them really memorable to bring home.

  • Goen Yokocho has preserved a lot of traditional Japanese architecture and cultural elements. You can really feel the authentic Japanese atmosphere here. There are classic izakayas and snack shops lining the street, and the whole area has a charming, old-fashioned vibe that makes you feel like you've traveled back in time.

  • As soon as you arrive, you can feel the lively atmosphere and the amazing food. There's a huge variety of fresh seafood, and it's also a great place to learn about the local fishing village culture. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone who loves seafood and wants to explore local culture!

  • Japanese architectural aesthetics are famous worldwide, and this station really shows it off. The design blends glass and the surrounding scenery, and both the exterior and interior feel so modern. I couldn't help but admire the architect's skill when I visited.

  • Visiting Higashi Chaya-Gai feels like stepping back into ancient Japan. The most historic building here is Kaikaro—make sure to take your time to look around and soak in the atmosphere!

  • Kenroku-en is so photogenic—you can snap postcard-worthy pics anywhere! Too bad it was cloudy when we visited. If the weather had been sunny, the photos would have turned out even more beautiful.

  • Getting here isn’t very convenient—it’s quite a distance from the station. But if you’re driving, I totally recommend stopping by to enjoy the gorgeous sea of flowers. Lots of Japanese couples even come here for wedding photos. It really is beautiful.

  • The oden broth is a clear, salty kelp base. Personally, I found it a bit on the sweet side, which isn’t really my favorite, but the ingredients were decent.

  • The coral reef tank at Echizen Matsushima Aquarium is truly one-of-a-kind! The tank is completely transparent, so you can actually walk above the fish and watch them from above. This kind of tank is only found at Echizen Matsushima Aquarium in all of Japan!

  • You can see Mt. Mikasa in the distance, and the Ukimido Pavilion sits in the middle of Sagiike Pond. Whether you're viewing the pavilion and mountain from the lakeshore, or looking out from the pavilion itself, both views are absolutely beautiful and relaxing.

  • Being able to see the deer up close is such a wonderful feeling!

  • We stayed in a Japanese-style tatami room with comfy beds and an open-air bath. After soaking, we enjoyed an amazing kaiseki dinner and breakfast—everything was super delicious. You can relax in the bath and take in the view. Honestly, this stay was just fantastic.

  • We chose the shortest route, and along the way, you can really feel the mysterious atmosphere of Kumano faith that comes through the natural surroundings!

  • There's a subway station on the basement level and a shuttle bus, so it's pretty convenient.

  • When the bridge is too low, everyone on the boat has to duck down to get through. It's actually really fun and interesting!

  • It's not just cherry blossoms in full bloom—there are lots of other flowers blooming together too.
