Houkokuji Temple is famous for its bamboo grove, which really sets it apart. The whole area made me think of scenes from the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

It’s rare to be able to get this close and really feel the traces of a great literary figure’s everyday life.

This used to be the local government office. You can still see the tools they used for holding prisoners.

The ranch is huge, with lots of natural flowers and plants. There are also cute animals around. I tried Hida beef for the first time here.
