Kanagawa’s Inn that Warmly Welcomes Foreign Visitors, The Ryokan Tokyo Yugawara

Stay a night at a ryokan (Japanese-style inn) tailored to foreign tourists, “The Ryokan Tokyo Yugawara,” in Kanagawa Prefecture’s Yugawara!
Dormitory rooms start at 2700 yen per night, possibly making this the cheapest lodging in Yugawara!

Access to the Ryokan

The ryokan is located 10 minutes by car from JR Yugawara Station.
The road to the ryokan is fairly narrow, with some sharp inclines!

If you see this sign, you’re almost there!

Its entrance immediately gives off a Japanese-styled vibe!

Gates Reminiscent of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari-Taisha

You change into slippers for inside, and leave your outside shoes in a locker.

Exploring the Building!

The ryokan offers all-you-can-drink black tea, roasted green tea, and coffee.
There is also a drink vending machine (paid).

There is a list of interesting paid activities.
There are lots of costumes and props available too!

You can dress up in costumes and take pictures in front of these photo panels!

Rooms

Available room types are Japanese-style and dormitory-style. This time, I used the dormitory style room.

The dormitory rooms are mixed gender and shared. There is a communal refrigerator as well. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

Bed

The beds are 120-centimeter semi-doubles, so they are somewhat wide.

Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided.

Onsen

The hot spring is certified as a 100% Gensen Kakenagashi onsen. You can enjoy Yugawara’s popular onsen at this ryokan.

You can definitely relax here!

There is a convenience store located around 15 minutes on foot from the ryokan, but keeping in mind the steep slopes along the path, I recommend you do your shopping beforehand.
I ordered the 490 yen breakfast, and I felt like it was a pretty good value since it came with two pieces of toast, as well as ham and eggs.
