Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History & Human History
The biggest nature museum in all of West Japan. See true-to-life scale exhibits!
Based on the concept of “The Journey of Life,” this is one of western Japan’s largest comprehensive museums of natural history and human history, showcasing the grand story of life’s evolution and the development of humankind.
Through various exhibits placed on the main path called the “Earth Mall”, and “Culture Mall”, this shopping mall-esque museum features true to life representations of nature. In “Earth Mall”, check out the 35m tall fossil displays of the Diplodocus, and Tyrannosaurus.
Check out the “Envi-Rama Pavilion”. Through a cave-like entrance, you find yourself in the prehistoric era, where your adventure begins. Check out ancient fish, iguanodons, and insects in their natural habitats brought to life by CGI magic. To finish this adventure, you will see a 360 Interactive Diorama of Kitakyushu in the prehistoric era. Using lighting, film screens, and realistic sound, you will find yourself immersed in the Prehistoric Era.
Special exhibits take place every now and then, so check out their website!
