The “Kitakyushu Manga Museum” opened in 2012 in Kitakyushu City, which has produced many famous manga artists, including Leiji Matsumoto, Seizo Watase, and Tsukasa Hojo. It is a facility that conveys the appeal of manga through exhibits based on the themes of "seeing, reading, and drawing”.

Among the many sections, the most popular is the "Reading (Yomu) Zone", which holds approximately 70,000 manga monographs. Visitors can read freely in the museum, and manga sommeliers are available to answer questions about manga. Visitors should also check out the exhibitions and talk shows by popular manga artists, as well as regular events such as lectures by instructors on how to draw manga and themed reading sessions.

The Manga Museum is housed in "Aru Aru City", a concept building located near JR “Kokura” Station. The other floors are also home to stores selling anime goods and figures, as well as an event hall, and the building is attracting attention both domestically and internationally as the center of pop culture in Kitakyushu.
