Akiusha sits inside a renovated kominka-style house built 160 years ago. From the building itself to its traditions, culture, furnishings and more, this spot is bent on treasuring its ever-growing “vintage” feel over the years, which lends to its growing popularity as a tourist stop around Akiu Onsen.
Inside you’ll find a number of sweets and lunch items that are made with heaps of locally-sourced produce and seasonal ingredients. There’s plenty of items to try like dishes using Miyagi chicken and seasonal vegetables harvested around Akiu, or the photo-worthy Akiu Harvest Bowl. If you have a sweet tooth, there are popular items like the delicious and beautiful desserts made to celebrate the season.
Akiusha is especially great because you can get more than just good food when you visit. Inside you’ll find a number of antiques that fill the space with plenty history and local tradition.
