Yukura Shrine is located in Yunokawa, a hot spring resort in Hakodate, Hokkaido. Legend has it that numerous cures for incurable diseases have been achieved through hot spring cures, and the shrine is said to have special divine virtues related to hot springs and medicine. The shrine is also believed to be a god of health, longevity, conjugal harmony, and easy childbirth, as well as a god of good harvest, prosperous business, matchmaking, and child rearing.

Because the deity of Yukura Shrine has a mythological connection with the rabbit, many rabbit motifs can be seen on the shrine grounds. On top of the money box is a carved wooden rabbit held by the deity, and next to the main shrine is a "nade-usagi," a rabbit that is said to grant wishes if you stroke it while making a wish. The "Healing Hammer" and "Temari Rabbit," both white rabbits that are said to cure illnesses, and the colorful Temari Ball sign are popular photo spots.

There are many kinds of omikuji such as "rabbit oracle" and "ikasu omikuji" named after Hakodate's specialty squid.
